Gafieira Rio Miami is a vibrant 11-piece Brazilian big band based in Miami, dedicated to celebrating the richness and energy of Brazilian culture. Founded by Latin Grammy–winning bassist and producer Diogo Brown, the group brings the spirit of Rio’s iconic gafieira dance halls to contemporary international stages, blending tradition with a fresh, modern edge.

Rooted in the lively gafieira movement of 1940s and ’50s Rio de Janeiro, the band draws from a spectrum of Brazilian genres—including samba, chorinho, pagode, bossa nova, and jazz—to create a sophisticated, dance-driven sound. Their music pays homage to the golden era of Brazilian big bands while reimagining it through dynamic arrangements and global influences.
