Experience the powerful and joyous energy of Gafieira Rio Miami, the 11-piece band founded and led by Latin GRAMMY winning bassist Diogo Brown. This phenomenal group features lively samba percussion, a swinging horn section, and the beautiful voice of Isa Duarte. Gafieira Rio Miami fuses samba, jazz and soul inspired by the joyous, Rio de Janeiro ballroom dance music known as “samba de gafieira” (pronounced GAH-FEE-AY-RAH). Yes, the band is reviving the gafieira style but also adding funk grooves and jazz improvisation. With members from diverse backgrounds this band is taking gafieira to the global stage.

Created in 2020, the band blends Brazilian musical traditions with global influences, embracing genres such as chorinho, pagode, bossa nova, and jazz. Composed of musicians from Brazil, Venezuela, and the United States, Gafieira Rio Miami reflects Miami’s multicultural identity while maintaining the authenticity and energy of classic samba de gafieira.
