Two sets (6pm/9pm) Gafieira Rio Miami, the 11-piece Brazilian big band led by Latin Grammy winner Diogo Brown, returns to Judson’s Live for an encore performance. Inspired by the lively gafieira dance halls of 1940s and ’50s Rio de Janeiro, the band blends chorinho, pagode, bossa nova and jazz with the vibrant rhythms of Brazilian big band music. Miami’s international music scene is reflected in the band’s global lineup of musicians from Brazil, Venezuela and the U.S. Together they channel the swing and swagger of Rio’s famous dance halls with joyful music that makes you want to move to a samba groove.
